Hi, children's book scribblers and doodlers! Every week we hold a 15 minute info session on topics ranging from craft to publishing. Next, four individuals present their work or ideas for a group critique (20 minutes each). We give one another feedback, swap ideas, pair up word folks and picture folks, and support one another on the yellow brick road to Publishdom. (Picture books, chapter books, and YA novels all welcome)
All the book clubs I've seen have been for moms or people over 35. I'm 24 and I wanted to meet other book-lovers around my age in the area. Encompassing a wide variety of genres and authors from children's books to classics we'll aim to read a new book every three weeks or so. We'll meet to discuss the books in a relaxed informal environment. Even though we're a 35 and younger meetup group if you're an older person wanting to read more youthful books, I would be willing to make exceptions. Pleas …
We aim to share advice on self-publishing, discuss lessons learned and interesting facts. Given the host of available self-pub platforms and aggregators, it's often a challenge to determine the most effective method of self-publishing. Ebooks, POD, independent and interactive apps, will all be covered. There will also be ruminations on the future of self-publishing: where should it go from here? Those who have battle scars and success stories from self-publishing should come to show and tell. Ot …

Each month, we will read and discuss and/or write about a great classic written by various American or European authors. Some of these books we may have read as children or teens, others may be new to us, but all have had a significant impact on readers around the globe and are worth a read, or even a second read. We will meet at a coffee/tea shop or a wine bar each month to discuss the book of the month and share anything we have written about the book, if designated as an optional assignment.

Parents and teachers are also not educated about the unique traits and learning styles of Indigos (often mis-labelled as ADHD or ADD. According to a study performed by Tober and Carroll, indigo children function poorly in conventional schools due to their rejection of authority, being smarter than their teachers, and a lack of response to …

This is a group for parents (or potential parents) to share ideas about non-authoritarian parenting. The whole family is invited, but some events may be more appropriate than others for young children. Blind obedience to authority is the plague of our society. Many are coming to understand that the root of this problem is in the family. Traditional parenting often teaches "might makes right" and "obedience is a virtue." This is a group to explore the alternatives, including collaborative pro …

The Stratford Scribes is a group of Fairfield County writers serious about the creation and publication of their craft. The group meets in Stratford, Ct. and owes a philosophical debt to Roberto Calas for both the tone and format of the meetup. We are a group of writers committed to pushing each other to achieve the writing life (and audience) to which we aspire.
